Questions You Might Have about LPC
What will the worship service be like?
Real! In worship, our eyes are opened and we encounter Jesus Christ. We hear Christ speaking to us as we read the Scriptures, sing, pray, and receive the sacraments of communion and baptism. Both services follow the same order, with the same music and the same sermon. Services begin at 8:30 AM and 10 AM.
What will the music be like?
Joyful and reverent. Our musicians draw from the excellent music of every genre. On any given Sunday music may be led by pipe organ, piano, keyboard, guitars, flute, chancel and bell choirs, and praise team.
How long are the worship services?
Both services are about an hour in length.
What should I wear to Laguna Presbyterian Church?
Laguna Beach is known for being a “casual, come as you are” place.
Wear whatever makes you comfortable. You will see men in an occasional suit and tie, but mostly in slacks, jeans and even shorts in the summer months. You will see women in dresses, and even an occasional hat, as well as slacks.
Laguna Presbyterian Church has a long history of encouraging folks to come to worship and then feel free to kick around on the beach afterwards.
How will I know what do to during the service?
Everything you need to participate in the worship service (words, music and cues to sit and stand) is printed in the worship bulletin. You are given the bulletin by our greeters as you enter the sanctuary.
Should I bring a Bible with me?
If you want to you may, but we have plenty of Bibles located in the pews. We use the New Revised Standard Version.
Where can I park?
There are three primary locations were you may park:
• 3rd Street Parking Lot: Our primary parking lot on 3rd Street between Forest Avenue and Mermaid
• Street parking around the church
Free parking is granted as a courtesy by the city of Laguna Beach until noon at the Peppertree Lot (next to Ken’s Jewelry) on Forest Avenue, and on both sides of the streets surrounding the church for those attending worship at LPC.
Those streets include the 400 block of Forest Avenue (from 2nd to 3rd Street), the 300 block of 3rd Street (the length of the block behind the church), the 400 block of Mermaid (between 2nd and 3rd Street), and the entire length of 2nd Street. Metered spaces must be vacated by noon or you will be ticketed by the city of Laguna Beach.
• Mermaid Parking Lot: Mermaid and 2nd Street, spaces 1-8 and the two marked, “Tenant” available until noon
How can I learn more about Laguna Presbyterian Church?
A great place to start is our Inquirers’ Class. This class provides the option to consider church membership, but participation doesn’t require a commitment to join the church and provides orientation for parents who are interested in baptism for their children.
